Lessons That I Need To Keep Learning Over and Over

👋
Please note: It says "you" in these lessons. That's cause I'm talking to myself.
  • What got you here won't get you there.
  • If you were rich, how would you spend today? Guess what, you’re already rich.
  • Try to focus on one thing at a time (both macro and micro) AKA don’t be a donkey.
  • Whatever you’re feeling the most Resistance about is what will teach you the most.
  • You’re happiest on the road, in the unknown, not pursuing a pre-determined destination. (Cause if I already know how it’s going to end, I’m bored. Why do it? I do it so I can FIND OUT what’s going to happen.)
  • Trust in the process. Don’t worry about the outcome.
  • Don’t try to rescue anyone.
  • Trust your creativity to lead the process.
  • What’s the Matt way of doing this?
  • What would this look like if it were easy?
  • Life isn’t happening to you, it’s happening FOR you. What’s it trying to teach you? What’s it offering you?
  • (take a) Retreat. Retreat. Retreat.
  • If I can embrace the part of me that is weird and nervous and strident, I will be able to kick ass. Remember Celeste.
  • You can’t move life forward without committing to the Cocooning phase.
  • The universe is looking out for you.
  • You like being on a team.
  • You’re best at taking care of your body when it’s regular and you’re not over-scheduled.
  • You have to have a mission!
  • You’re gonna get distracted and infatuated with something else, wait it out.
  • You’re gonna need to go down that hole of despair for a few days, wait it out.
  • Don’t start or end the day with your phone.
  • Stay committed to NOT doing things - What can you delete from the to-do list? What can you let go?
  • “The data-driven answer to life is as follows: Be with your love, on an 80-degree and sunny day, overlooking a beautiful body of water (or a mountain,) having sex.” (From here.)
  • Don’t do something that will cause you to live in fear of someone finding out.
  • Do things you dread ASAP. (Waiting only causes more dread. The event will be the same.)
  • Other people aren’t really waiting on you. Ask yourself: What’s their actual deadline?
  • Don’t fill up your calendar. When the days are full, you feel like you don’t have time for the GOOD stuff – like walking with Acacia, meditation, stretching, good sleep etc. – and that’s the stuff that keeps me running well.
  • It’s Resistance, that feeling you’re feeling.
  • When angry, ask - What belief is being violated?
  • Stay true to the mission, The Work. You know what it is.
  • Choose between what you want now and what you want most.
  • Emotional isolation is, in itself, traumatizing.
  • Sometimes, because you know what really matters, you choose to steer INTO the big wave. (Thanks, Newtie!)
  • Emotions indicate a need. Anger indicates a need to protect, push back, set boundaries.
  • Don’t deny your inner life, please. Ask – What’s happening inside me? What if I say YES to that? What possibilities open up?
  • NICE goals (Near term, Input Measures, Challenging, Energizing) – Ali Abdaal's book.
  • NUCI motivation (Novelty, Urgency, Challenge, Interest) – How to ADHD book.
  • Produce more than everyone else and give your ideas away.
  • Don't wonder if people have opened your emails - it only makes it worse.
  • You're going to die.
  • Choose the game you want to play.
